Getting Started

• Drag and drop files onto the Robots and they'll do the rest
• The Hand-in Robot names the file automatically with the students name & period - no need for students to put their names in the name of a file
• Teachers can return files to students with the Hand-back Robot after grading digitally
• Multiple files can be selected and dropped onto the Robots at once
• Uploading to UMTube: the Robots automatically detect video files and will ask if you wish to upload to UMtube
• Files handed in go into the Teacher's DropBox
• Files handed back go into the Hand-back folder in the student's Documents folder and will appear next time the student's computer syncs

Troubleshooting

• The Robot gives me an error
  • It is important to read the error message to know what went wrong. It's possible that if you try again it will work fine

• The Robot timed out
  • Possibly you didn't choose the teacher/period when the robot was asking you to
  • Possibly the file is too big, or the network is too slow

• I do not have permission...
  • Possibly you double-clicked the Robot is it's A1Robot folder instead of dragging it to your desktop. Wait till later and try to drag it to your desktop again
  • Possibly you dragged the Robot to your dock instead of to your desktop. Drag it off the dock and go back to the A1Robots folder and drag it to your desktop

• I got a Robot error that said something about an "alias"
  • You are attempting to hand in something that is not on your computer. Drag it to your desktop and try to hand it in from there.

• How do I know the Robot really handed my file in?
  • You should have received a list of files successfully handed in when you are done
  • Files handed in will start with "h-"
  • You can always peek into the Teacher's DropBox to see if your file is there

• The teacher handed something back, but the student doesn't see it on their computer
  • Make sure the student looked in the Hand-back folder in Documents (or My Documents)
  • If the file is still no there, the students should try to sync home now

• The Robot is bouncing in the dock
  • Click on it; it's waiting for you to choose the teacher/period or it's trying to send you an error message

• The Robot disappears in the A1Robots folder when I try to get it
  • When many people try to get the robot at once, it sometimes disappears for a moment. Try going to another folder, and then come back to the A1Robots folder
